Dr. Melissa Alfonso Sedeño

Dr. Melissa Alfonso Sedeño was born and raised in Miami. She attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate, dental and orthodontics degrees. Dr. Alfonso served as the President of her sorority Phi Mu Fraternity. While in dental school, she was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon and won several awards including the Alpha Omega Award for Scholarship for graduating at the top of her class. During residency, she served as the Chief Resident. Her research focused on accelerating orthodontic tooth movement, for which she won the AAO Charley Schultz Resident Scholar Award. Dr. Alfonso is an American Board of Orthodontics Board Certified Orthodontist, a certification only 1 in 3 Orthodontists have.

Dr. Alfonso is a participant in the Leadership Program for the Southern Association of Orthodontics, is an Editor for the American Association of Orthodontists Practice Management Bulletin, and is on the Board of the South Florida Academy of Orthodontists. She is also actively involved in organized dentistry as a Delegate for the South Florida District Dental Association to the Florida Dental Association.
