Dr. Lesco was born in New Bedford, MA and received her B.A. in Biology from Boston University. She went on to graduate with multiple honors from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1977. She then spent a year at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore as a dental general practice resident and returned to the dental school for her training in periodontics. After graduation, she taught full-time for four years in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and has continued to teach part-time in the Periodontics Post Graduate Clinic.

 Dr. Van-Dinh thought she wanted to become an orthopedic surgeon. She was able to take post-graduate bioengineering classes as an undergrad and had the opportunity to shadow a surgeon during a total hip replacement. That was an eye-opening experience! She decided to go another route in her life, and dentistry seemed like a much better fit. She loved implants, but on a much smaller scale! Dr. Van-Dinh also loved her own dentist growing up and wanted to change people’s perceptions about dental care.

She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Maryland Dental Association , the Baltimore City Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). Dr. Welzel is the AGD recipient of the prestigious ‘Fellow of Academy of General Dentistry’ award, in recognition of a commitment to oral care that goes above and beyond traditional education and licensing requirements. She enjoys learning about the latest advances in dentistry through continuing education and collaborating with her peers in frequent case study sessions.     

Dr. Wears has continued her dental education in orthodontic clear aligner therapy and dental solutions for obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Wears has completed numerous hours of continued education in oral airway therapy for sleep apnea including a Dental Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency. Sleep related breathing disturbances are linked to several systemic diseases and conditions and can greatly impact our overall health. Signs of possible disturbances are rapidly identified during routine dental examinations and are used to establish next steps for treatment. Dr. Wears is passionate about developing relationships with patients to create a comfortable environment for conversation in efforts to guide patients on their journey to better sleep and better health. 

Clinical excellence and the ability to perform advanced dentistry at a high level have been pillars in Dr. Hurley’s daily practice. She believes in providing her patients with the most current and top-notch clinical care across all modalities of dentistry, thus she has been committed to continued learning through some of dentistry’s most esteemed institutes in dedication to providing her patients with the highest quality care available. Dr. Hurley has pursued hundreds of hours of advanced continuing education across all facets of general dentistry, with an extensive focus on cutting-edge, advanced, and safe practices of dental surgery and implant dentistry which she has found to be her true passion along her journey. 

Dr. Moskowitz is dedicated to using the most advanced technology and techniques to provide his patients with the least invasive and most effective periodontal treatments. In 2004, he became one of the first periodontists in Maryland to use the Waterlase laser for managing gum disease. He has used the PerioLase® laser for minimally invasive gum rejuvenation procedures since 2010. He is one of only 600 or so dentists to be trained to use the minimally invasive Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique for repairing gum recession. 

During Dr. Leybovich’s residency, he was selected as a student ambassador to the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. In his final year of training he was selected as Chief Resident, where he placed specific focus on providing periodontal treatment as part of one’s comprehensive treatment plan. Dr. Leybovich emphasized treating the individual as a whole and not simply fixing isolated periodontal problems. In addition to a noteworthy residency, Dr. Leybovich’s research has been published in The International Journal of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry.

Dr. Cunningham completed his undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University, received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry and his Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University School of Medicine before returning to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas for an internship in General Surgery.

Dr. Cunningham then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Texas A&M College of Dentistry (formerly Baylor College of Dentistry) where he learned state-of-the-art technology and procedures of his specialty.

Dr. Cunningham has spoken at multiple regional meetings in various topics related to his field and is excited to share his most current knowledge and enthusiasm for our specialty with his patients and colleagues of Central Texas. Dr. Russell Cunningham joined his father, Dr. Barry Cunningham, who is a founding partner of Austin Oral Surgery.

His education includes a BS degree in Biology from The University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana, a DDS degree with Honors from Loyola University School of Dentistry, Chicago, Illinois, a MD degree with Honors from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Quaroni completed a General Practice Residency in Dentistry at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Quaroni also completed a six-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which included training in anesthesia, and a General Surgery internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Quaroni joined our group in 1996. He is a licensed physician and dentist in Texas. His areas of interest include corrective jaw surgery, mouth reconstruction with bone grafts and implants, the surgical treatment of sleep apnea, and the correction of cleft palate defects. His professional memberships include local, state and national medical dental and oral surgery societies.
