Jeff Evans studied at Hamilton College, at the National Academy of Fine Arts and at New York University’s Graduate Division of Fine Arts. He studied printmaking with master printers Bob Blackburn and Krishna Reddy. Extensive traveling in the United States, Europe, South America, Asia and a desire to capture the mood and rhythm of each location greatly influenced his work. Evans often sought out local materials and incorporated their energy into his art, including paint, paper and especially water from Venetian Canals, Indonesian Rice Paddies, Amazonian Mountain Stream and European Rivers.
